This Software is provided by Cook Well, Co. and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Software.

If you choose to use our Software, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Software. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at Cook Well Terms of Service unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

For a better experience, while using our Software, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information that we request will be retained by us and used as described in this privacy policy.

Analytics

We use OpenPanel, an open-source analytics tool that we host on our own servers, to understand how people use Cook Well so we can improve it. When you use the app or website, we collect information about how you use it, such as the screens you view and the features you use. We also collect general device information (device type, model, operating system and browser) and your approximate location at the city or country level, which is worked out from your IP address. We do not store your IP address. Analytics data is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties.

Payments and Subscriptions

Subscriptions bought in the Cook Well app are processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscriptions bought on our website are sold and processed by Stripe through Link, which acts as the merchant of record for those purchases. You enter your card or other payment details directly with Stripe, and Cook Well never receives or stores them. Stripe shares limited information with us so we can give you access to your membership: your email address, the plan you chose, your subscription status and your country. Stripe and Link also send receipts, handle billing support and refunds, and use payment information to prevent fraud, as described in their own privacy policies.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions across the App Store and our website. RevenueCat receives your Cook Well account ID and your purchase and subscription history so it can confirm your membership.

Cook Well AI

When you use Cook Well's AI features, such as chatting with Cook Well AI or importing a recipe, your messages and the recipe text you import are sent to OpenAI to generate a response. OpenAI processes this data on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. We also record these conversations with Langfuse, a service that helps us review and improve the quality of AI responses. Please don't include sensitive personal information in your messages. AI conversation data is not used for advertising and is not sold.

Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies that it needs in order to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering preferences like your time zone. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics do not use cookies. When you check out on our website, Stripe may set its own cookies to process your payment and prevent fraud.

Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

To facilitate our Software;
To provide the Software on our behalf;
To perform Software-related services; or
To assist us in analyzing how our Software is used.

We want to inform users of this Software that these third parties have access to your Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Your Choices

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the Cook Well app. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and data, by emailing support@cookwell.com.

Children's Privacy

This Software does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
