Step 1: Make the dough & egg wash

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
Then, in a separate container, mix the warm milk, egg, and melted butter together. Once mixed, pour this over the dry ingredients and incorporate them until a shaggy dough forms.
- This process might take 2 to 3 minutes, and the dough will be fairly sticky at this point.
Cover it and let it rest for 15 minutes before coming back to . After 15 minutes, the dough should have relaxed and be much easier to knead.
Knead for 4 to 5 minutes until it becomes smooth. Let it rise on the counter, covered, for 90 minutes or until it has doubled in size. Separate the dough into 9 (roughly 80-gram) portions.
In a separate bowl, make the egg wash: beat together one egg with a splash of water. Set aside.
